How to farm in Medieval Dynasty
Medieval Dynasty starts out as a survival game, but it quickly turns into a live-action city management game. You start humble by building your first house and as you progress in the game you must establish your first farm. The farm in Medieval Dynasty is essential if you want to have enough resources to keep your village thriving and your citizens happy.
The farming mechanics are not difficult to accomplish but the way you farm is not the most obvious setup.
To start farming you need a few things that are must-haves. The quest “A Farm” will give you a little guidance but will only take you so far.
Here are the basic materials needed to start a farm in Medieval Dynasty:
Wooden Hoe
A wooden hoe can be crafted through the handcrafting menu. It requires a log and 5 sticks.
Bag
A bag can be crafted through the handcrafting menu. It requires 3 pieces of leather.
Fertiliser / Fertilizer
The easiest way to acquire fertiliser early in the game is to buy it from a merchant. But you can craft fertiliser from manure (2) or rot (10) once you have built a barn.
Seeds
Early in the game buying seeds from merchants or completing side quests are the easiest way to get seeds. Once you have your farm going, you can recoup seeds when harvesting some crops while others require a barn to craft seeds.
Steps needed to farm:
Build your farm plot and layout the grid
Navigate to your crafting menu, select building, select farming, and then select field. Then you will see a green post to place your field. Then walk away to make a grid. I recommend starting with a 6×6 grid or bigger but you can make it as small or as big as you want.
Equip your hoe (wooden hoe)
Equip your hoe and you will “grub” each tile that you laid out in your grid. Once the plot is grubbed it will look like just a dirt square.
Equip your bag
Equip your bag and hit the LT button (on Xbox) to select fertiliser.
Once the fertilizer is selected drop the fertiliser on each tile that you laid out in your grid (or until you run out of fertilizer)
Equip your hoe again
Equip your hoe and you will work or “plough” the fertilizer into each tile of your farm grid. Once the fertiliser is worked in the tile will be marked as ploughed.
Equip your bag and select seeds
Equip your bag and hit the LT button (on Xbox) to select the seed you want to plant. The seed selection screen will let you know if your seeds can be planted during that season. It will also tell you how long until you can harvest the crops grown from that seed.
Place the seeds
Now that you have a bag with the selected seeds you can start scattering the seeds on each tile in your farm plot.
Wait a season (or two or three)
Now it is just a waiting game. Some crops only take one season to grow, while others take up to three seasons.
When should you plant seeds in Medieval Dynasty?
Seed | Planting Season | Harvest Season |
Beetroot Seed | Spring | Autumn |
Cabbage Seed | Spring/Summer | Summer/Autumn |
Carrot Seed | Spring/Winter | Autumn/Summer |
Poppy Seed | Spring | Autumn |
Flax Seed | Spring | Summer |
Oat Grain | Spring | Autumn |
Onion Seed | Spring | Summer |
Rye Grain | Autumn | Spring |
Wheat Grain | Spring/Autumn | Autumn/Summer |
Harvest your crops
Once your crops are mature you will be able to harvest them. Crops like cabbage and carrots you can pick up with your hands, but crops like poppy and wheat will require a sickle to harvest.
Assign your workers to the Farm Shed
A recent update brought the Farm Shed to Medieval Dynasty. You can assign up to 4 workers to your Farm Shed once you have finished construction. The Farm Shed has a small storage that can hold 150 kg.
Villagers that are assigned to the Farm Shed can work the fields or the orchards.
Once you have your farm up and going and start to recruit villagers you can task your villagers with working the farm. Further, into the game, your farm can be a great source of not just food but money as you can sell any excess to help pay your taxes.
