Role-Playing Games Week Recap 10/11/2021

If you use Twitch you should change your password and a release announcement.

Major Twitch hack

It was confirmed last week Twitch has had a major hack. Twitch has been under scrutiny for a while now and it seems some shady hackers decided to hack their system. In what is being called one of the biggest data breaches ever it seems these hackers got access to a ton of stuff.

They got source code, encrypted passwords, user payouts, and who knows what else. There is word that they will release more details on what they got. If you haven’t already you may want to reset your password for Twitch and enable Two-factor authentication to keep your account safe.

Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition announced

It has been revealed that a Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition will be released before the end of the year for most current-gen consoles (including Switch). It looks like this will include the first 3 original games from the franchise (GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas) and have enhanced graphics and gameplay.

The release date is set for December 7th and the pricing so far will be on par with a brand new release. Also, there is word the older titles that exist in the game stores today may be removed once this is released. So if you are feeling nostalgic you may want to grab one of the existing titles while it is still around.

Upgrade to Xbox Cloud gaming

It has been reported that Xbox Cloud gaming is now fully powered by Xbox Series X hardware now. This should mean higher FPS and better load times. Xbox is also working on apps to run on devices so you don’t need a console at all.

The service is still in Beta but with the improvements and enhancements, I can see this coming out of beta hopefully by next year early. I have been playing exclusively through a Chrome web browser for the last month and the experience is really good. The only issue I have had is when my internet slows down a little.
